Doc Crockett is the alter ego to Tobey Crockett PhD. She has been in the artworld in one role or another for over forty years. Whether as studio assistant, gallerist, curator, critic, speaker, event organizer or journalist, she has always believed that artists, the art, and its message are by far the most important parts of the artworld. She left the field of criticism in the early 2000s and focused instead on developing a critical theory of digital media, which remains a great passion.
She has been making art – painting, photography, 3D virtual worlds, performance, sculpture and now social sculpture -- all along. The WARS exhibition in Paris features the debut of a large social sculpture project which she has been working on for the past decade plus.
